The Alameda Muslim League is a Sunni Muslim organization in Hayward, Alameda County, California. It is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization under California law, formed March 7, 1991. The League operates a mosque at its location in Downtown Hayward. The current president (as of 2011) is Amjad Khan.

AML was founded by Haji Ibrahim Khan, Ramzan Hussain, Sardar Dean, Haji Afzal Khan, and Haji Tahir Khairati.

Demographics:

The founders and the all of active members are from Fiji Islands. This mosque has other participating nationals from India/Pakistan and occasionally some from Yemen, Palestine, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

 Denominations:

AML is open to people of diverse theological schools. Most of the Fijian brothers either Bareilwi (Milaadi) or Deobandi (Jamaati), and most of the Arab and some Fijian brothers are Salafi/Ahl-ul-Hadeeth, and all of them appear to get along really well.

 Languages:

At AML the Jumu'ah Imam/Khateeb only speaks in English, Urdu and some Arabic, but the Shaykh who conducts Thursday's Tawheed class gives it in English, and so do the teachers who conduct the Sunday Qur'an/Islamic Studies classes for children.

 Facilities:

AML now have a separate ablution facility. AML have chairs for old/sick people to sit and pray. Women's prayer section is separate but the main entrance to the place is one. Everything is on ground level so wheelchair access is not a problem.

Parking:

Entrance and parking is in the rear. Since, AML is located in the central city zone. City of Hayward has allowed the excess parking on the streets.  

Education:

AML have Tawheed class for adults on Thursdays after Ishaa for 15-20 mins, and Qur'an & Islamic studies classes for children on Sunday. AML also have Qur'an classes for adults on Thursday between Maghrib & Ishaa and sometimes on Sunday after Zuhr. Arabic language teaching is also available. 

Summary:

AML is cohesive and open place for all Sunni Muslims.

Currently AML is working on building improvement and upgrades. We are also in process of hiring a full-time Imam who can speak English, Arabic and Urdu languages.
